If you have young kids and you are at an eating establishment and see a sandbox, what do you think? I think, glorified litter box, germs, grit, filth, sand on the kids and sand in my car. Sand is for the beach, where I expect it and am prepared for it.
A kid would probably think, yippee, SAND!
When a kid sees a sandbox full of water, they probably think, there goes all the fun! When I see it, it's, oh, thank goodness, no excuses necessary!

Sandboxes certainly don't look like good places for your child to play in, we don't really have them over here due to health and safety rules. I love the idea of perspective though, it's amazing the differences we go through in mentality and stature as most of us grow up.
I actually still get excited by sandpits and even better by ballpits. Ballpits are awesome. It can be good to see the world from a child's eyes sometimes :)
Please tell me both things were not in the same place!!!
AW let those grandbabies play in the sandbox and then send them home with mom and dad ;o)
But seriously, a sandbox at a restaurant? Never heard of such a thing and can see where the sandbox can be a blessing and a curse at the same time (yea keep the kids entertained, crap we have to clean the sand off them before they can eat).

Oh my goodness, I would not like a sandbox for my kids to play in at a restaurant. Ish! I even used to hate those balls! Gross!

I always loved the idea of sandboxes when I was young and when my kids were little. But we also had cats... not a good mix. Same thing with food establishments..?!
We never think of the different view a toddler has than we do, I can just imagine Benjamin with a sandbox, water or not he would be jumping right in Ha Ha
I would rather imagine you getting down on toddler level taking that photo!
I love the different perspectives! As adults, we do tend to forget what life looks like for a small one.
And, do my eyes deceive me, or is that the place I'm thinking it is? Yummmmmm! Now I'm craving chips and a margarita!

We used to go to the beach several times during the summer when I was a kid...and I hated it! There's (almost) nothing worse than sand in your crotch. lol!

I'll take the higher perspective if you please. When I see a kids sandbox, I think of all the cat poop that is probably in it... sorry!

I talk about this a lot...and use it as a teaching point for my kids! to recognize others perspective is a form of empathy...a very good virtue I think! your photos are a great illustration of that!!

Great photo's and illustrations of perspectives. I'm so glad there are no longer any sandboxes around here. I can remember WAY LONG AGO, a child had ringworm and it was blamed on the sand in the box.
