Sad Start To Summer

Today was the last day of school.  Summer is just starting.  My daughter came over after early dismissal and informed me the playground at my kids elementary school, next door, was torn up.  I had no idea.  Did I mention this is right next door?

I don't have a clue to what's going on.  I hope they are just renovating it and the playground equipment will be put back.  Sure will be a shame to all the neighborhood kids, if they don't.

This is one of the few open areas, in our cram packed neighborhood, to run and play.  We don't have the luxury of large acreage and plenty of room.  Barely any yard.

I hope there is a good excuse.

I sincerely hope that this is being renovated and improved and that someone just "forgot" to inform the neighborhood. That looks like a professional job and intentionally ruining a play area for kids the day before summer vacation starts would be cruel indeed...so, until further notice, my money is on a better playground coming your way. Sure hope so!

Wow! I hope they're just upgrading or renovating. The timing DOES suck. : (

I feel sure they are just upgrading the equipment. They wouldn't leave an elementary school without playground equipment - would they?

That looks like new equipment, so maybe there were pipes burst underneath or something and they will put it back up?

Surely they're just updating with better equipment?!

Why on EARTH would they be doing that now?? Don't you just wonder what's going on in their peanut heads?

I do hope you're right. Hopefully they're renovating for the next school year. Please update us & want to know what they're going to do.

wow....as everyone before me has said, very bad timing. It looks like it could go either way - either a new bigger and better or it's going away to something else. I'd go ask the workers when there if I were nosey enough. :-)

With the economy I would bet on renovation. Who has the money to build houses nowadays?

It is sad to see all this equipment being discarded. Hope there's something even better in the works.

That is a sad sight! The elementary school my daughters used to attend updated with equipment that was made to be functional for, and equally used by, children with disabilities and without, so they could actually play together. Maybe it's something lovely like that.

Oh, how SAD! It's always something that that's being taken away from our kids---and then "They" turn around and complain about all the obese children in the country.

Hmm...Maybe someone should put two and two together!
