Happy 101, Part 2

I mentioned recently that the The Girl Next Door Grows Up gave me an award that said I bring happiness.  I'm honored.  Thanks for the support and the award.

Here are the rules to accepting this award:

  • List 10 things that make you happy.
  • Try to do at least one thing on the list today.
  • List 10 bloggers who brighten your day.
  • For those who get the award, link back to my blog and create your own happy list (Only if you want to.  No pressure here)
Now for my happy list.
  1. Being married to a wonderful man, who accepts me in spite of my faults.
  2. Being a mother.
  3. Being a grandmother.
  4. Phone calls and visits from my kids, just because.
  5. Coffee!
  6. Long, hot baths.
  7. Anything that stirs a memory.
  8. Restful sleep. (rare)
  9. Days when I feel like leaving my house. (also rare)
  10. Finding clothes that fit!  (rare indeed)
Now comes the part I will really struggle with.  Listing 10 bloggers who brighten my day.  EVERY BLOGGER I FOLLOW BRIGHTENS MY DAY OR I WOULDN'T FOLLOW THEM!  Instead of listing 10, I am going to list 1.  This person has been stirring my memories for many years.  Much longer than I've been blogging.  He used to write a column in my local paper and frequently reminisces about growing up in my area.  He now posts them on blogspot.  He's a hoot, you'll like him.

Mark Hayter this one's for you!

How big an honor is that! Thanks, Ms. A. So undeserving, but, hey, I'd like to thank my lovely wife, my family and friends who give me so much material. Included in the friends is the lovely Ms. A, who is such a loyal reader. You're a peach, lady.

Concerning the 10 bloggers who brighten my life. Obviously, Ms. A has done just that with this charming award. I also enjoy Garrison Keillor's website http://prairiehome.public radio.

Unfortuately, I don't visit many other blogs. I'm a dinosaur that way. Even though I maintain a blog, I have trouble believing many people would actually take time to visit it. I don't understand Facebook or Twitter/Tweeter or so much that's going on in the world of Internet. Yep, I'm a stegasaurous. Stega something.

Now as for 10 things I'm happy about.

1. The thought of having best wife in the world. Kay knows me and still loves me. I'm not kidding.

2. Being with my kid sister Jill. She's a hoot. She is a major encourager... and comic. The girl drives me nuts.

3. I like being with the brothers and goofing off, or helping each other out.

4. I love going on dates with Kay. Mostly eating out and to the movies.

5. I really like sitting on the loveseat with Kay at night and watching TV together.

6. I like when I've finished washing the car. Happens so rarely.

7. It's great feeling when the oil in the car has been changed or when I've filled it with gasoline. Man, I could go anywhere if I wanted. A great feeling. I never go, but I could.

8. I like having our good friends the Plilers, a couple we've known for 30+ years. It's good to have people who enjoy your company and are always there for you when something goes wrong. That's the way we all four feel about one another.

9. I like sitting on the roof and looking down trying to sort out things that shouldn't carry so much worry and looking up at things that bring peace. Life needs more roofsits.

10. And, at the fear of sounding fanatical, I love the thought of a God who knows everything about me (warts and all) and loves me anyway, and that he promised me a place to live forever that eye has not seen, ear has not heard, nor has entered the heart of man how great it is. I love thinking of that, especially in tough times. Wish it came to mind more.

That's it. Thanks, Ms. for being so sweet. Your bud', mark

Okay, everybody is being just too nice. I'll give you five years to stop that stuff.

Mark, you're gonna love them! They are a great bunch of characters. I'll keep my fingers crossed that (since they are mostly younguns) they won't drop any "F" bombs on you. I certainly wouldn't want to cause you to have a heart attack. (But perhaps we could recover, together, I've already suffered a few!) Keep a bar of soap handy, just in case.

You crack me up every time. I'm in the sinning corner with you then. :-)

Great post!..hmmm..should I or shouldn't I.

Karen, all this time I thought it was getting tight from my big butt. Glad to know it was from you sharing it with me! Please get your own chair. Not sure what the should I or shouldn't I means, but as brave as you are, why not? If it's about checking out Mark... go for it! He's much less of a risk than I am and you took a chance on me.

Wow Cora Beth, Moke was thrilled! What a great idea you came up with! I admit, I haven't been to your site of late and had no idea you had 21 readers! You've certainly been spending your time wisely... I know you love blogging, you do a great job of it, my friend. Most excellent, CB.
