One Year

One year ago today, we got the call for Michael's heart. We are forever humbled and grateful to the donor (and family) for the ultimate sacrifice that allows our Son another chance at life. You will not be forgotten.

Happy first anniversary to your son and your entire family. It I believe it takes a family to raise a heart recipient as we can't do it alone.

I know I NEVER forget my donor and donor family, they are with me in my heart each and every day.

For me, that first anniversary was a HUGE deal. I had healed physically and was at what I called "my new normal" in about 6 months ..... but the emotional healing took a lot longer. Every day of the first year I worried about my survival, about when "the other shoe would drop" .... on my first anniversary, I then felt that I CAN DO THIS! It was also on that date that I decided to start volunteering at my transplant center ..... that has been the BEST job I've ever had.

So may God continue to watch over Michael and your entire family and may God always bless his donor's family!

Happy Rebirthday to Michael. We wish him many, many more. God bless all organ donors.

Happy rebirthday to all of you! Transplant is a journey you think you know about...but until it happens to you, only then can you truly understand! We remember our donor with a dedication rose on the Donate Life float in the Rose Bowl parade, but with each of Bill's heartbeats, our donor lives on.

A wonderful day to celebrate. And to reflect on the one whose generous relatives provided the heart for transplant.

There is a lot in our lives that sucks, but there is also SO MUCH to be thankful for. I'm really happy that Michael was able to get the successful procedure. I'm happy and thankful that there are people out there who give vital parts of themselves, so that others may live. I'm thankful to, and amazed by those who have the skills and guts to perform these procedures.
Most of all, I'm happy that your family is whole. Much happiness and peace to all of you...
