This
hospital stay was a very tough couple of weeks for Michael. When he
went in the first time, he was already so sick that all we were
expecting and hoping for was an improvement. This
time, he hadn't been feeling bad, other than a couple of fleeting
episodes that went away. When he woke up on the Sunday he went to the
ER, he was totally unprepared for what was about to take place.
Michael
has kept a very positive, optimistic outlook, until this time. One of
his doctors made the mistake of telling him that perhaps his heart had
healed enough to remove the pump.
Testing on Tuesday before the pump was replaced, proved otherwise. When
he found out that his heart hadn't healed, he was unable to contain his
disappointment and I believe that disappointment has really effected
his recovery from this surgery.
His
little Sister headed to the hospital today with every intention of
getting him out of there. She was sick and tired of his crankypants
attitude and him laying around in the bed. She did
her third show of competency at controller changing and then she lit a
fire on the twelfth floor and said she was taking him home. Within an
hour and a half, all the paperwork was done for discharge and they were
on their way! She feels confident that once he gets home, his attitude
will change. I think it's more likely to change at home, too!
Thank you to everyone that has been supporting us throughout this ordeal, we really appreciate it!
Just before this latest hospitalization, I was blessed to receive some very special artwork and lucky clover, from TexWisGirl. My photos don't do it justice. THANK YOU SO MUCH, "T"! Love ya, girl!

Oh My... I know this has been so hard on the entire family... God Bless all of you. Hope Michael perks up once he is home...
Prayers for all.
Hugs,
Betsy
This time it's all going to work out!
That Theresa is one heck of an artist. Take care my friend...
Home has got to be better than a hospital and home is where the love process happens the strongest and has the best effect! Prayers for Michael.
Poor Michael, my heart goes out to him and your family and I hope that his recovery continues and gets even better. Love this art too, just beautiful.
All of us where sure hoping that Michael's recovery would be a straight upward line ... rarely happens that way, tho. Poor Michael, and poor Granny and everyone else.
Presents in the mail are a great pick-me-up. Makes us realize that we're not alone. So special. What a sweetie that Theresa is!
Hugs (real ones) for you.
Hugs to you and your son - hoping this return home brings renewed hope and healing - xo
and Theresa is such a kind soul and talented artist!
oh, bless you, dearie. i hope (when you have more time) the drawing brings you joy. in the meantime, i hope michael gets his fight back!
They say that recovery is 50% mental so I feel this will help him being home where he is most comfortable and surrounded by people he loves and those that are going to be his cheerleaders.
(((cyber hugs)))
Caregivers need love and support too. :-)
Beautiful art work for sure!
I'll keep your son and you in my thoughts and prayers. Yes attitude is a HUGE part of recovery and I'm sure once he is home, it will change.
God bless you, you've been through a lot this past summer....
I continue to send thoughts and prayers for Michael and the family!
Oh my lovely woman. I think about you and your son a lot. More than you might guess. I will keep him in my thoughts.
Hopefully Michael is feeling much better now that he's back home. All of you have been in my thoughts and prayers.
hugs to you,
Marie
That child of yours has had a very rough time for sure. I pray being home (with you?) will bring both hope and better attitude. Goodness gracious, with all he's been through, my attitude would need adjustment also. Praying still, always will.
Beautiful gift from Theresa. I know you'll treasure.
Lots of love and hugs!
xoxo
I totally agree with the attitude part. That can really impede recovery attempts. The better the attitude, the better the chances of recovery. I am glad his sister took him out of there!
Hospitals aren't the best place in the world to rest and recover. Very uncomfortable in every aspect.
I hope he feels better and more positive now that he's out, and that he's WELL soon!
Thank you for the update, too, I have been sending good thoughts.
What a lovely gift she gave you! Your dear son has just been through the wringer. I so hope this ends soon!!!!
Oh my...you guys have been down a long, hard road. I truly am sending my most sincere wishes for a speedy recovery now......He WILL get his groove back.......he is too darned handsome not to!!! In all seriousness though, it should really pick up now that he's out of the hospital.
Tell him to hang in, as he has been. My niece's husband had a heart transplant almost two years ago---that was tough, but it's all good now.
Take good care of yourself too----I sure wish I lived close enough to drop by with some homemade goodies, or just to take you away for a few hours. A good chat over some tea, coffee, or wine is so good for the soul----hang in :o)
I hope him being home lifts his spirits and helps him to heal faster. Did he come back to stay with you?
Lots of prayers for your son! Hugs and love sent your way as well. The artwork...beautiful!
Sometimes just that little dash to our carefully constructed tower of hope is all it takes for everything to crumble- I completely relate. So impressed by your daughter's insight and competence in handling the situation! Home is so much better and I pray its just the right thing for all of you! Prayers, prayers for all of you for some peace and rest!
Hospitals are so depressing. I have high hopes that the change in scenery will do him a world of good.
I'm sorry to hear about the tough period Michael and all of you have gone through. I hope now that he's home, both his health and his disposition will improve. You all remain in our prayers.
I know that this setback must have hit him hard - but I feel sure that once he is home his attitude will improve. How can it not? Being surrounded by family and familiar things is much better than being stuck in a hospital. Know that I keep Michael and all of you in my prayers.
This had to set everyone back - I can't even imagine. My heart is in prayer for you all. sandie
Hope light for your paths! You are in my prayers.
My heart feels heavy for you. You have more prayers coming your way. Keep breathing, keep faith, and know you are all loved and supported.

I hope the change of scenery does him good. Some of those hospitals just refuse to let go, don't they? I'm glad she was able to get him released. Love that artwork. She is so talented and generous!
you are one of the strongest women i know, and i'm so happy that your boy is outta there!
I imagine he will draw strength from those of you who love him.
That butterfly is fantasticalilicious!
can't even imagine what Michael and all of you have gone through...
please keep faith. i strongly believe that a positive attitude (i believe in its effectiveness) can improve your health.
i just wanted you to know that all of you have constantly been in my thoughts and prayers. i really hope your dear son feels better and more positive now that's back home. sending tons of love and positive thoughts your way.
p.s. what a pretty gift theresa gave you. she's such a sweetheart.
(((HUGS)))
I do so hope and pray that things are indeed better. What a so difficult time for you.....there's nothing worse than when someone gets in a 'downer' state of mind when they are ill. It seems to, indeed, slow their healing...almost as if they are telling their body to slow down! I hope that going home has helped him be more positive. Joan
So glad to hear Michael's sister has gumption and strength to help her brother. I know your family is anxious about this recovery and it is difficult to watch Michael travel through the emotional roller coaster during this time of recovery. You have many people online who feel a connection to you and your family, please know I am one of this group. Hugs to you.
I can't blame Michael one bit for being Mr. Crankypants. I'd be cranky with only ONE hospital visit!! There's nothing like a sister to take the bull by the horns, and the artwork you received had to be a delightful surprise.
Home is often the best healer and good for the soul...:)
I hope being home has lifted his mood. Your own bed really is the best when you're feeling bad and down. Good for Sister-You get'em honey!
