Lotta Joy

I admire talent.  I don't have any, but there are some really talented people in this world and I have the pleasure of following one with a great talent for drawing.  She has recently picked it back up after not having done it for a long time.  To say I'm impressed would be an understatement!

Here's how it went down:

The contest is: GUESS WHOSE EYE THIS IS.

Send me an email telling me whose eye this is.

Don't give your guess in the comment section - but I DO expect a comment. I'm greedy that way.

If no one gets it, there will be a new piece of this person's face on here tomorrow.

I'm SO looking forward to seeing how many bits and pieces I can place on here before it's figured out.

If someone guesses correctly - right off the bat..... well.....shit.....

(1) the contest will be over:

(2) the winner will get a portrait,

(3) I'll wonder how the hell they figured it out - and we will forever shun them.

(4) facebook friends are not eligible.

And the winner is:MS A

This isn't the same pose, but look at that likeness!

We shall now begin the shunning .....

Okay, Ms A....if that is really your name...hmmmm... whatcha want?

More Than A Bad Hair Day

We've been having near daily thunderstorms.  I'm not complaining since we are still trying to recover from drought conditions, but it hasn't left me with much opportunity to practice with the camera.

A couple of days ago, a storm rolled in.  I grabbed the camera and took a few shots of the clouds.
This one concerned me, but it passed without incident.

After the rain stopped, I stepped outside and tried to snap some shots of the water drops.  Normally I get something like this...

The minute I stepped outside, my camera lens, screen and viewfinder, fogged up something fierce.  I didn't think too much about it, I wiped it off and tried to shoot anyway, even though I was still having a tough time seeing.  I thought once I got them on the computer, they would be fine.  I was wrong!  This is how they turned out...

I could tell by reviewing them, they were hazy, but it never seemed to clear.  I thought after a few minutes it would be okay.  I stepped inside, into the AC and without changing the setting I had it on, snapped a couple of shots.  It was fine!
Stepped back outside, BACK TO HAZY!
Guess my camera prefers the AC as much as I do!

Okay all you fantastic, experienced photographers, is there a secret I haven't figured out?  Let me hear from you.  Was it just the extremely thick moisture and steamy conditions that caused this?  What can I do to keep it from happening again?  I would have stayed out there longer to see if it would clear up, but the skeeters were biting me all over!

I Don't Understand

Could someone please enlighten me to the attraction for threaded comments on a blog?  Many blogs are using it and many bloggers are great about responding to the comments left by their followers.  However, if you've been blogging for any length of time and follow many different blogs and comment to them, unless you subscribe to their comments, you won't see their response.  If you do subscribe to comments, then you get every comment other bloggers leave, plus the response to every comment the person who made the post leaves in response AND YOUR EMAIL EXPLODES... and you still aren't sure which response belongs to you, unless they type your name in the response, or you go back and check the blog.

I don't have a problem with anyone choosing to use it, it's just that your responses may not be getting seen.  If blogger ever figures out a way to notify you of the responses meant for you, without subscribing, I'd be all over that!  Until then, email response seems so much simpler.

What are your thoughts on threaded comments?

How'd That Get There?

Headed over to my mother in laws house this evening.  I took the camera to try to get some shots somewhere other than my yard, which doesn't have much that I haven't shot already.

I have tremors in my legs, so trying to focus on a small object, usually takes more than one try.  I don't always know what I have, until it's on the computer.

I'm going to post a few photos.  (leave now if you bore easily)  You will notice that several are very similar, I was trying to test at different distances, as well as focus on a specific point.

After I got them on the computer, I noticed a few things I hadn't seen.  See if you can spot them... obviously I need my eyes checked!

Did you spot the extra green, that I didn't see when shooting?  It's in more than one shot.  Let me know if you find all three!
