The Friday before Christmas, my Daughter and her family met up with me at a neighborhood park to take some photos. Seems her busy schedule had left her with no time to have Christmas photos done and she needed something quick. Talk about last minute, not to mention pressure. I was game to try.
Have you ever taken kids to a park, on a gorgeous, sunny, cool day and asked them to be still? Not an easy task for them, or an inexperienced person trying to take photos, either.
My youngest Son is very supportive of my photography and gave me two books for Christmas, specifically for my camera. I'm in the process of reading the first one... and it makes more sense than anything else I've seen so far. I wish I'd had it before I tried the Christmas photos. Perhaps I could have figured out how to get sharper focus, as well as dealing with the bright sunlight and everyone looking so washed out, although I don't think it would have helped with getting the youngest one to cooperate. Maybe next time will be better on both counts!
My Daughter was quite forgiving of them not being perfect!

LOL! It looks like you had your hands full taking those shots! They came out lovely though.
And so....you ended up getting some awesome pictures!!!! Am proud of you.
These are awesome! Although your daughter doesn't look old enough to be a mother to those three kids!! Let me know the name of the book your son got you. How sweet!!
These photos are full of life! My favorites are those, where the little one is "running away". Lovely!
What a HOOT! You got "real life!" Lots of fun, spirit, and interaction, I LOVE THEM all...and think they almost work better as a group than as any one individual shot because together they tell a story about relationships, kids, and what happens when they all get together in a park on a beautiful day! BRAVO! You will learn much from books, but don't learn so much that you stop experimenting for fear of "making a mistake" because those "mistakes" - and I speak from decades of (long ago) past experience, can be the best shots of your life! What I love best in your photography is that it brings out the child in YOU, too!
These are wonderful photos! Nothing is better than catching the real personalities, what memories you've made!
These are amazing! I took a few Christmas photos at my mom's house, but they were horrible. I'm not very good at portrait work.
I think these are great Cora!!!
I am green with envy. I am still trying to understand all buttons and settings on my t3i.
I love the photo's where the little one just can't be still or smile.yo caprured a family very well.

I think they're great too! It's pictures like this that a few years from now, everyone will look back on and remember the time with laugh and giggles.
LOVE these! Each one. I don't see how they could have been better; real life, real family, beautiful subjects. :)

I really love these! Their personalities really pop!
BEAUTIFUL FAMILY!!! The oldest daughter is the splitting image of her mother. I had to giggle at the little boy-- I can just imagine the difficulty in keeping him still! He is spitting to burst! Your photography skills are amazing.
Lovely and tender...
Happy New Year, full of joy, health and God’s Blessings!

Honey, I sure envy your ability to have such beautiful children who have such beautiful children! and it's easy to pick out the squeaky wheel of the bunch. *not saying another word* LOL
Having not tried group shots much, I don't think any photos I could take would turn out as well as yours. I personally think these are great. It may be the models you paid to pose for you. Smile. Or it may be your natural talent. Whatever, I like these pictures very much. The one with them each doing their own thing is the super duper pick of the day.
I think you did a great job with these pictures, even if the little one didn't always want to cooperate. I really like the candid shots you got.
I think you got it! I love the last one where they're all together. so funny. you have a beautiful family sweetie :) happy 2013.. xxo
A fine looking crew indeed!
These are lovely photos! You have a beautiful family too. I hope you enjoyed the time with your daughter no matter how brief it was. Happy New Year, Ms A! :)
