Shootin' Fish?

Monday evening, after dinner, hubby and I took a drive down to the water.  Gawd, it was still hotter than blue blazes, but we walked around for a bit, so I could take a few photos.  Fish were jumping all over the place and I TRIED to catch some shots.  Talk about hard.  I never knew where they were going to jump!  I got numerous shots of the after-splash, but did manage to get a few of the actual fish.  Unfortunately, the shots look more like ugly water, with spots, but if you enlarge them... you CAN see the fish.  Some shots had more than one fish. (not sure if any of these do)

The camera is still proving to be a bit of a beast for me, however, it is keeping my interest.  Someday, I hope to have photos that are much better.  Until then, I hope I don't bore you too much while I practice.

Trick I learned when I take pictures of fireworks: Aim for where you think they are going )as in height). This might help with 'shooting' those fish.
Starting Thursday, we are to get in the high 90's might even reach 100 and it's going to stay for the next few days. Whenever it gets this hot, I always wonder how you who live there do it. I know I won't be going out during the daytime hours!

I think you're doing very well with your new camera -- I've never been able to catch a jumping fish, and I haven't done much better with flying birds. Your sunset pictures are marvelous, and I love the sunlight on the battleship. Is that the Texas?

I think those are pretty good shots!!! Flying fish freak me out. I think they're trying to catch water flies or something.

The ships, the sunset, the building... wow. Good camera!! Good photographer, you!

Great photographs. Are the jumping fish those invasive Asian Silver Carp?

I'm not sure if those were fish or if people were throwing out their old tennis rackets.

What a clean picture for the speed involved with a jumping fish.

I am most impressed.

Wow! These look amazing! I love the last one too. I would have never thought to take photos of fish jumping out of the water. They look amazing to me. What's the weather there? It's suppose to get up to 100 here today. Kudos for staying focused in the heat.

These are TERRIFIC! I saw the fish and your birds, ship, you've got the eye, and WHO KNOWS WHERE A FISH IS GONNA JUMP anyway and speaking of anyway, do they always jump or is this a new thing? Well, you keep shooting! Love 'em. Would you think it evil to say it's 68 degrees here and we are chilly, sleeping under electric blankets, and are slowly losing hope we will ever see a bright thing in the grey sky again? Love your pics!

Your photos are awesome!! I've tried so many times to get a shot of the fish mid jump, and have only managed ONCE to catch it. I DO understand the frustration. :-))

Maybe you should try getting a shot of a whale. You'd have more lead time!! ;)

Love the shots you got. And yes, birds are easier than fish to capture "on film".

Hope you catch a cool breeze occasionally!

I see fish! That means you did great in my book. Much better than what I can do with my dummy camera.

I've tried to shoot jumping fish. It's too darn hard. All the rest of your photos are REALLY good!

Catching those fish in the air is hard! You did a great job. But my favorite is the Battleship Texas - beautiful light!
