A baby possum!!! A teen at least. The possums I see are gigantic, raccoon sized! This one is wee tiny.

Remind me never to move to TX. ; )

OMG! How did it get in???

I think the less said about this critter the better. I am, however, glad you evicted him.

Barbara said...

Ah, I'm so glad y'all were able to get it out of there without anyone getting hurt! I don't think it's very happy about its nest being disturbed, though! lol

okay city girl here freaking out.
I love the header photo but not the others so much!!!

Granny used to tell us that possums were our friends. "If you have possums, you won't have rats!" I think they are pretty cute.
When they look like this, they aren't mad, they are scared...

Liz Mays said...

He was brave enough to grab it with his hand? I know it was a baby, but those are mean! EEKS!

Oh My... That possum had the perfect nest, didn't he???? He didn't look like a Happy Camper.... ha

Hugs,
Betsy

Only thing worse than possum is a possum muffin. Ha.

Poor lil Opossum! I agree with Pat...if you have them, not a rat to be seen! I have them living in my trees behind me. They come down at night and feed on the left over cat food I leave out for the stray cats. So do the Raccoons :D I LUV them ALL!!!

oh my gosh!! we had one in our garden, I don't know what I would have done if it were in my drain! lucky you got him to handle it!!

Did I mention I have 2 wonderful guinea pigs? One is gray. :)

Lisa said...

I know this was stressful and all. And yes - opossums - yuck. But this post tickled my funny bone.

PS. Glad the yucky critter has been relocated!

Joy Tilton said...

OMG that creeps me out so bad! I've not ever had an up close experience with a possum, would most likely do me in!

Nezzy (Cow Patty Surprise) said...

Oh my glory...I couldn't quite tell what he had made his home there but I for one hate the obtrusive little critters...they weird me out! Heeehehehe!!!

Have a bountiful blessed day sweetie, void of critters who gnash their teeth!!! :o)

My guinea pigs took a vote. They voted that the little varmint is deserving of a wonderful home where nobody can ever find him again because he scared them. Thank you, they said. Now they are going to have
nightmares, they said. That is what they said, don't shoot the messenger!
Ha-ha-ha. Gotta love Texas!

NCmountainwoman said...

Why, that little rascal. Glad you safely evicted him.

Farida said...

I was guessing what the first picture was... the succeeding photos were what I thought it was! It's a big one huh?

Hugs,
Farida :)

I came back to look at the vent. still doesn't look good!!

Dawn @ Words Of Deliciousness said...

That Opossum doesn't look too happy. I glad it wasn't in my vent.

Sarah said...

Better alive than dead! We had a squirrel fall down our chimney, and our roommate didn't hear it (or something) and days later it started to smell down there...sadness. It was dead. I think we could've saved it like you did the possum had we known about it!

Nancy said...

Nasty little suckers. Glad he wasn't any bigger.

troutbirder said...

Was he playing dead when grabbed? Those big teeth look kinda scarry though.... :)

Judie said...

Hmmm! This critter looks vaguely familiar! My son had one that came to the front door every night, looking to be fed! In Arizona, we deal with packrats--much cuter, but eaters of insullation off important wiring!!! Shocking, isn't it!!!

Rawknrobyn.blogspot.com said...

That's the most amusing, and a bit creepy looking, vent I've ever witnessed. Thanks, MsA.

A great series of photos. I'm a fan of possums -- as long as they stay out of my chicken house. I hope this one got safely relocated.

Katherines Corner said...

Wholly Possum batman! giggle, that is one ugly little critter. Where did he get relocated?

Momma Fargo said...

Heavens to Mergatroid! That was scary.

Shrinky said...

I've never seen a possum before, it was only reading through your comments I found out that is what this critter is. Awww, least you didn't kill it! I probably could live with one around my back yard, but nope, I hate the thought of sharing my cereal with it!

THere is just no getting around it---possums are cute till they open up their little mouths and you see all those teeth. Also, the naked tail doesn't add any charm to them either.

Jenny said...

What the heck is it? I'm afeared! I can't believe it made a home in there. Yikes. Your fella is quite brave!
