An English professor wrote the words:
"A woman without her man is nothing"
on the chalkboard and asked his students to punctuate it correctly.
All of the males in the class wrote:
"A woman, without her man, is nothing."
All the females in the class wrote:
"A woman: without her, man is nothing."
Punctuation is powerful

Wow, nice. Although I indeed though "A woman, without her man, is nothing."
Well said!
Amen, sista :-)
Yes I can see it going both ways ;o)
Ha ha ha!! I love it! So true, too. And, of course, the females were all correct!
This is so awesome!
LOL!!! Love this. :)
I love it. You've definitely shown the importance of punctuation.
A woman without, her man is NOTHING!
Too cool!
That is FABULOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey, commas and women rule the world!
I was given this as a teen and I loved it then as I do now.
Yes---punctuation is important for sure.... Great sentence to compare the different meanings.
Hugs,

punctuation is really important!
that's for sure!
Without a doubt, all the males papers were wrong. ;-)
I hope the women all scored 100%. :)
Oh how I love this!
And the war between the sexes continues today..
love it! xo
Ha! Love it. We need that stuck to the fridge at our house : )
Bravo! What fabulous insight...this is a message I will not soon forget! Even if I am always stumped by apostrophe''''''s!
Of course, the womens version would rate an A while the mens version would be a C.
WE like that so much better than "A woman needs a man like a fish needs a bicycle!" because you never really know what a fish needs, do you? But we DO KNOW THAT WITHOUT A WOMAN, A MAN...we don't even wanna THINK ABOUT IT! That a fabulous lesson in the power of punctuation to tell the whole truth and nothing BUT the truth!
I've seen this before, but it makes me smile every time I see it.
blogger is driving me crazy.

I love to play with punctuation, but since the English language is not my first, sometimes it is a bit difficult.
Thank you for the laugh!
