Swarm

I stepped outside yesterday and was shocked at what I saw.  One of the sago palms looked like it was moving, only it wasn't the palm, it was what was on it.  I grabbed the camera and tried to capture what I was seeing, but the video doesn't do it justice, at all.

This is very short and you may have to pop it out in order to see what I'm talking about.  Without the camera, the light hit their wings and the base of the palm looked like it was writhing.  In addition to the ones with wings, there were tons, without wings.  Look at the fronds when I pan up and see if you can catch it.

This is the stuff nightmares are made of and it was much more creepy in person.

If you can't tell what they are... it's ants.  Big ants!  We've had horrible issues with them this year.

This is my nightmare. This year has been so bad for me too, so many of them. A nuclear weapon won't have them gone.

ICK! I haven't had them for years. And, I'm too old to remember how we got rid of them. Good luck!

I've tried to capture ant swarms by video too and never with really good results. We have a lot of ants up here too.
