Blogger Blunders

Update:  Due to the large number of complaints, this has been removed!

I don't like the new "Lightbox" feature blogger has installed without the option to opt out.  Many of the blogs I follow, post amazing photography.  I have always been able to click, to enlarge the photos and see the detail.  This new feature doesn't allow that.  The fact that it was foisted on us, with no warning and limited options to those who aren't computer savvy enough to figure out how to disable it, is appalling.

While searching for answers, I discovered many who feel the same way.

I am a miniscule fish in the ocean of bloggers out there and struggle with changes.  To those of you bigger and smarter, what is your opinion?

Karen, Connie, Pat, Betsy, Vicki, Bonnie, Lisa and many others whose photos I so admire... YOU HAVE BEEN ROBBED OF THE ABILITY FOR YOUR READERS TO ENLARGE YOUR PHOTOS AND SEE THE SPLENDOR AND DETAIL.  PLEASE, DO SOMETHING.  COMPLAIN TO BLOGGER.  LET THEM HEAR FROM YOU!  YOUR FOLLOWERS NEED TO BE ABLE TO APPRECIATE YOUR PHOTOS!

Sorry for screaming.  I don't know what else to do.  We need options.  Someone bigger and smarter needs to help.  I can't do it.  I struggle to do what I do, as it is.

PLEASE!

I had forgotten that Blogger did that. Dang it, Blogger, help Ms. A out!

I noticed that the other day. Facebook is also screwing (yes, I said SCREWING) with their website.

Stop trying to improve things. It doesn't work!!!

Hmmmm... I had no idea.

Is it a Blogger thing or is it where the photos are stored (like Flickr of Picasa)? Because I just left a blogspot blog and was able to enlarge the picture.

Since I'm on my mobile visiting boots I think I miss that feature.

I did not know blogger added a "lightbox" feature?

You can always transfer to wordpress.... most of my blog is already on there, I just haven't had the time to fool around with it and get comfortable with it enough to leave blogger behind.

I did notice that sometimes you can enlarge a picture, sometimes you cannot. I don't know what makes it ok for some and not Ok for others.

Yes, Facebook is changing too and I HATE IT!! I don't have control over what I wanna see on there anymore.

Social Media... what are you gonna do with them? How will you survive without them? What was it like back in the days of no internet? Oh wait, I would never have met you. I prefer the internet being here!

Wish I could help; I'm blogger & FB witless. :)

Haven't even noticed the changes yet.

Everything changes, though....and we all moan and groan for awhile, then accept it, and forget what things were like "before"....and then they go and change something else on us, and we beg for it to be the way it just was...lol.

I'm getting a kick out of reading all the moaning and groaning on Facebook. People really hate change. I try to embrace it. (If you can't beat it, you may as well run with it, eh?)

On my blog, clicking on a photograph will enlarge the one you clicked and give thumbnails of the other photographs in the post. I haven't had a problem enlarging from other blogs either. Interesting that the problem is not affecting everyone. I wonder if it works only with photographs saved as JPEG files.

Why, that's an abomination, pure and simple! And, much as we'd like to help you out, we remain embroiled with Netflix for doubling the price of their so-called "service" without providing any more of the so-called "service" and somebody wrote back to mom apologizing and now we are preparing to "Shock and Awe" them. Somehow. We are still learning how to download and use images at full resolution because mom just discovered that Picassa done ruined everything downloaded on it! THEN, we'll re-address the Blogger issue.
Righting one wrong at a time...yeah, we is so ON THAT!

I just noticed this myself today! The horror and I hate it as well.

I haven't done pictures lately so I'm not sure what you mean but I was thinking of doing some tomorrow. If I get any clues I'll pass it on!

I didn't know about this, but I did try the "new" blogger and didn't like it, so opted back to the old, more comfy version..

I gotta be honest I'm old 'cause I almost hate every update to every type of software – including pacman.

I just realized this the other day. Bummer -- I'll investigate to see if there's a fix.

Okay, my photos wouldn't enlarge a few days ago and now they will. I also checked back on your elephant ear post and that pic enlarged when I clicked it. Maybe They heard you screaming...

I'm so computer-inept that I never noticed any changes. But I've had many gripes with blogger. This is a biggie. I also like to enlarge photos sometimes. To not be able to really stinks.

Well I'll have to check out that enlarging thingy. At least you know its a "lightbox." (I had no idea).. I refused to try the new way to blog... afraid I'd mess up something. Took me forever to figure out what I do know. (which isn't much) LOL

oh i didn't know that! I have a lot of bloggy friends who post great pics but i rarely look at them bigger.... But this is sure good to know!

Thank you for sharing, maybe they change it back?

Sorry, I got nothing....
All I can think is they did this as a way to keep people from stealing your photos and pawning them off as their own. If anyone finds my photos that great I would be so flatter by it...

I hate all these changes to my favorite websites. I'm sure they are shooting for improvements, but it just seems to make life harder.

themajessty said...

I can relate - I suffer from this problem as well.

Most photography blogs post pictures with generous dimensions though, so I think it's up to the blogger.

Lisa said...

I didn't even realize that had changed! I'll look into it and see if I can figure anything out. How frustrating. I'm just like you about change - I don't like it!!

I realize that I have been gone for several weeks --but I have not heard of this program. I obviously do not have it. My photos will still enlarge on my program ---and others will also.

Where did you get it? Are you sure it is a Blogger program?

I will try to do more research and get back with you.

Hugs,
Betsy

Hi---Me again!!!! I wrote a couple of friends --and they both said that there were so many complaints that Blogger has taken it off... SO--hopefully, yours will be back to normal soon.

We never had it on our Blogger...

I had to hop over here after reading your comment on This Old House 2...it sounds s much like me and then I read your profile and it is almost funny! (it is also like me!)
I have been away from my blog because of computer failure and now as I set up my new laptop I am left wondering WHAT HAPPENED!? Sounds like that "other" social forum that also springs changes on its followers unannounced! (although at this point I think I like the new FB)
I am certainly not a techy so I hope I can figure this out! I guess thats what I got the last time I went on..a "preview" it said...I clicked off it almost as soon as I went on..it looked to complicated to figure out..they gave me a survey and one of the comments was "not enough time to figure it out"...and also space to write which I did, but I still don't have a clue what it was they were talking about....somebody help!

I'm on blogger, why don't I know this?

Now I'm worried.

BLogger, get it together for MRs A!!!

Sarah said...

I didn't notice, but good thing they removed it. That saved me from some screaming!

Anonymous said...

Huh. I never clicked on the pictures to realize they enlarged. What about if someone uses Windows Live Writer to post? Will the pics enlarge?

Megan (Best of Fates) said...

Yay! Well done getting it fixed!

Shrinky said...

Ooooooh, blogger actually listened? Whey-hey, well done you!!

Pat Tillett said...

thanks my friend! I think I have unchanged blogger's change. Take a look at mine again and PLEASE tell me they enlarge now! I hope....
